A Night to Remember!

Last night Poston had their Annual Awards Assembly. We showed up early because Erika's teacher had told her to sit near the front of the auditorium. As usual the place was packed. We knew that she would get the normal 4.0 award and this year also the 4.0 award for three years in a row and we were very excited for those. She also knew that she had earned a certificate for her hours of service. When she got called up on stage Mr. Bisanz read off everyone's hours that they had earned over the year and there were quite a few students up there. They all had to get 150 or more hours to come up. Erika had set a goal to get 500 hours at the beginning of the year and she did it! Mr. Bisanz teased her and asked her if it maybe was a type-o on his list or did she really do 504 hours of service ?!!! She probably did more but those were the ones that were recorded. Anyways as the rest of the students were leaving he asked her to stay and he presented her the Helping Hand Service Award. I was so happy for her because I KNOW how hard she worked to earn that. The ceremony went on and she went up to get her 4.0 awards. Then came the top 20. They read all of the names and hers was not there and then they said that she was named the (drum roll please :))....
Most Outstanding 9th Grade Girl !!!!!! I was crying down in the audience(tears of joy). She has worked so hard all 3 years at Poston and I am so happy for her! She and I were smiling all night. Everyone got to see her achievements for the school year but not too many know of how hard she works at home too. She is always in a good mood and is always willing to help me or anyone at home. I appreciate the young woman that she is and I know she will accomplish great things in her life and I look forward to watching her.

Congratulations Erika!!!

Good thing you were sitting in front. Think how awkward it would have been if you were in the upper nosebleed section . . . ;)
Congrats, girl. I always love to see the quiet, under-the-radar girls succeed (not used to boys that way, and my Lily will be quite the opposite of her older sister . . .). Sure you don't want to do MV?

That's so awesome Erika! Congratulations! You too Jenn, cause I know you've been a great mama or she wouldn't have turned out as awesome as she is!
