An Eye-Opening Sunday Night.
Last night I decided that I wanted to start a new tradition on Sundays. I want to sit with my 4 oldest kids and ask them questions and then write down their answers and see how they change through the years.
Sunday Night #1...
Who's example can we follow to live happily?
Erika - "The Cox Family, either Cox family that we know."
Mandy - "The Movie Enchanted."
Emma - "Jesus Christ."
Anna - "Dolphins."
What are some of the blessings you have been given?
Mandy - "ummmm? I can't think of anything. (After a few minutes) My house, food (not counting school food), Jakey. Joseph, books, (after prompting from someone) My very kind older sister Erika.
Emma - "food!" I said, "that's it?" She said, "Yep!" Then she said, "Mommy, books, movies, Heavenly Father, church, amazing older sister Erika."
Erika - "my family, my education, our house, my friends, church leaders, my aunts and uncles and technology."
Anna - "my ponies and dolls"
I asked quite a few other questions and they really made me stop and think. My kids need to be taught more. They need to count their blessings and recognize all of their blessings. I think this will be a good tradition and it will help me to see what they are in need of and be able to help them more specifically. I love all of my children and I want them to be happy and I want them to know that they are special children of Heavenly Father and he loves them and blesses them.

What a great tradition! My mom-in-law kept a journal for Clayton starting when he was very little and she wrote in it until he could write in it himself. I love reading stories from when Clayton was 3 and comparing them to Caleb.
I love that! It will be really fun to see how they change throughout the years.
great idea. I would love to see your list of questions.
That's awesome. However, I think it would just add to my 'mom guilt' if i did it! :)
Great idea. May have to adopt that . . .
Maybe when life settles down a little. Keep us posted on the next round of answers.
I'm gonna have to agree with Anna on the Dolphins answer. They definitely seem happy. I will follow their example. Thank you for reminding me, Anna.
That's hilarious! What a good idea.
