Holy Cow!
I picked up Joseph's braces today for his legs and I cannot believe that he has to wear them full time until he is 3! His surgery is scheduled for Monday morning and then he will have casts for 3 weeks and then these braces. First of all I saw what they cost my insurance - Holy Cow! Then when I look at them and imagine how it will be to hold him and dress him etc it seems kind of sad. A sweet lady in our ward brought us a really cute excersaucer and as I thought about it there is no way that he will be able to go in it. I still count my blessings that his feet are getting fixed and that he is a healthy and happy baby boy and that he is part of our family. Has anyone been through this and can you offer some happy thoughts on the matter and words of advice?? Thanks.

My experience with all of this was a little less involved than yours, but I do want to share one bit of advice. When Micah got his corrective shoes, they told me he would be fussy for a while, but don't worry about it. I put the shoes and bar on him, and he proceeded to scream for twenty-four hours solid. I was hesitant to remove any of his workings, so, after one whole day, I took the shoes and bar off. He already had pressure sores on his foot. My advice: just make sure it all fits right, and if he's truly unhappy, call a dr. and have them check the fit.
I just feel bad that you (and he) have to deal with all of this. It sounds like an incredible amount of work. I'm sure it is hard seeing your child have a problem that most other children don't have. I do think the casts are cute though. :)
